Q: Did Al Gore really invent the internet?

A: This misquote is commonly attributed to Al Gore. While no single individual can claim credit for the invention of internet, Al Gore does deserve some serious kudos. As experimental versions of the internet sprang to life in the 1970s, he was one of the few American politicians that was both aware of the project and understood its potential. He used his power to ensure the internet continued to receive the funding and governmental attention that it needed to continue its vital incubation period. Without his foresight and support, the internet could have withered on the vine before it came to fruition.
